Methodology & Assumptions

The simulation runs month by month from your current age to the projection end age. All values displayed in the graph are expressed in today's purchasing power (real terms).

Before retirement: Each month, the portfolio grows at the expected return (compounded monthly) and receives your monthly contribution. Contributions increase annually by the specified rate.

During retirement: Each month, a gross withdrawal is made to deliver your desired net payout after the flat payout tax. The nominal payout grows with inflation so that your purchasing power stays constant.

Wealth tax: When enabled, Zürich cantonal wealth tax (Einfache Staatssteuer × Steuerfuss) is assessed once per year on the nominal portfolio balance. You can choose between the single-person and married-couple tariff.

Inflation adjustment: Internally, the model tracks nominal balances (which is required for wealth-tax computations). Displayed balances are then deflated by cumulative inflation to show real purchasing power.

Limitations: This tool uses constant return, inflation, and tax-rate assumptions throughout the projection. It does not model market volatility, changing tax law, or stochastic outcomes. It is intended as a rough planning guide, not a precise forecast.
